BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday evening elections in the country would be held in the period between late September and mid-November.
In an appearance on the RTS, Vucic said he was offering dialogue to all and that he would not give up on it.
He noted that he respected all political opponents and that he would continue to offer dialogue to blockaders even though they would not accept it.
Vucic said he would acknowledge the outcome of the elections even if another electoral list won, and noted that he would always be advocating dialogue.
"I will be fighting for a united Serbia, but that does not mean there will be one opinion only. That means that it will be clear who has the majority, and that they should be the ones to conduct their plan and their programme," Vucic said.
He added that his goal was to build and develop Serbia into a modern country.
Vucic: I am not optimistic about talks with MOL, but we will find solution
BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday evening he was not optimistic about a deal on MOL's acquisition of a Russian-majority stake in the Serbian oil company NIS being reached by a deadline set to expire on Friday, but noted that Serbia was in talks with all parties and that it had started receiving messages from the Russian side as well.
In an appearance on the RTS, Vucic said he was unsure "who wants to sell what, and to whom."
"But we will find a solution. We have several options. We have started receiving certain messages from the Russian side as well, but we will see how things are going," he said.
He said Serbian authorities had had countless meetings with MOL and that discussions with the Hungarian oil firm were still underway.
"Am I optimistic? No. So, I am hoping, but I am certainly not optimistic. But you have to have a solution," Vucic said.
Asked what the solution would be in case the talks with MOL fell through, Vucic responded that he did not believe the US would refuse to extend a deadline for a deal.
"They will extend it - it does not matter if it is for 15 days or for two months. I believe in that because I am talking to the Americans. We are talking to everyone to keep the country out of jeopardy. But we must hurry to find a solution because it is impossible to live and work this way," Vucic said, adding that a solution would be found.
Since October 9, 2025, NIS has been under US sanctions due to its Russian-majority ownership.
A US licence for talks on changes to the company's ownership structure expires on May 22, 2026.
