Starovic: Serbia committed to launching strategic dialogue with US

BELGRADE - At a meeting with a delegation of experts and advisers from the US Congress, Serbian Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starovic said on Tuesday Serbia attached great importance to development and advancement of its relations with the US, based on mutual respect and strengthened political and economic cooperation.

"Starovic stated that Serbia remains firmly committed to strategic dialogue with the US in areas of mutual interest, including the economy, energy, new technologies, security and regional stability," the Serbian government said in a statement.

"The interlocutors exchanged views on Serbia’s European path, regional cooperation and current geopolitical challenges.

The Minister reiterated that membership in the European Union is Serbia’s strategic commitment and that the country remains dedicated to implementing reforms and preserving peace and stability in the region.

The discussion particularly highlighted the importance of intensifying parliamentary and institutional contacts between Serbia and the US, as well as the need to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation in the period ahead," it also said.
