Emergency response team discusses critical hydrological situation

BELGRADE - Serbian Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic chaired on Tuesday a session of the Emergency Response Team, which discussed a critical hydrological situation caused by a historically low water level of the Danube River and potential measures to mitigate it.

The session also addressed the consequences of the current hydrological situation for the functioning of a Danube-Tisa-Danube hydrosystem.

"Dacic, who is also the commander of that team, emphasised that this issue is a matter of engagement of the entire state system in order to use all available capacities and minimise the consequences to the smallest possible extent," a government statement said.

"The Emergency Response Team noted that the current hydrological situation requires continuous monitoring and coordinated action by all competent institutions.

The Team recommended that the competent authorities, the Public Enterprise Vode Vojvodine, the Public Enterprise Srbijavode and other competent institutions continue to take measures to ensure the functioning of the Danube-Tisa-Danube Hydrosystem, mitigate the consequences of the historically low water level of the Danube and provide a stable water supply to the system's users," it also said.
