BELGRADE - The Serbian parliament rejected an opposition no-confidence motion for the government on Wednesday evening.

Forty of 176 MPs in attendance voted in favour of the motion, 135 voted against and one abstained.

At the end of a three-day debate on the motion, PM Djuro Macut said his government's work would not be judged by words, but actions.

"Our answer to the citizens will be even more work, rather than involvement in conflicts," he said.

Thanking all MPs who took part in the debate, Macut said differing opinions were an integral part of democracy and that the performance of every government was not measured by words, but results.
