BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric met on Monday in Belgrade with Sao Tome and Principe PM Americo Ramos to discuss bilateral relations, current international affairs and opportunities for advancement of cooperation.
Djuric thanked Sao Tome and Principe for its principled position of non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called "Kosovo" following a decision to derecognise it, and noted that Serbia was highly appreciative of consistent respect for international law, the UN Charter and the principle of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.
He noted that Serbia was committed to strengthening political and economic relations with African nations and wanted to advance its cooperation with Sao Tome and Principe in education, health care, agriculture, digitalisation, culture and other areas of mutual interest.
"Serbia is interested in intensifying political dialogue and exchanging visits because we believe that is the best path to strengthening our bilateral relations further," Djuric said.
He also thanked Sao Tome and Principle for confirming its participation in EXPO 2027 Belgrade.
