Vucic receives outgoing Azerbaijani ambassador

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received a farewell visit from Azerbaijani Ambassador to Belgrade Kamil Khasiyev on Thursday and noted that Belgrade exceptionally appreciated Azerbaijan's consistent and principled support for Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"It is a position that we do not forget, because lasting and dependable ties are built on mutual respect and on respect for international law," Vucic posted on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account.

He noted that he had thanked Khasiyev for his personal contribution to strengthening the close relations and a strategic partnership between the two countries during his tenure in Serbia, and added that they had discussed the results achieved in the past years and, especially, intensive political dialogue, strong economic ties and progress in the energy sector and transport infrastructure.

He added that the meeting had also addressed projects that had connected the two countries further, opening up space for greater bilateral trade and new investment.

"I noted that the relationship of trust I have built with President Ilham Aliyev gives special strength to further development of overall Serbia-Azerbaijan cooperation," Vucic wrote in the post.

He added that he was very appreciative of the commitment and openness demonstrated by Khasiyev during his term in Serbia.

"I wished him much luck and success in his further work," Vucic noted.
