BELGRADE - The head of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija Petar Petkovic has requested from the head of the OSCE Mission in Pristina Gerard McGurk that, in line with its mandate and authority under UN Security Council Resolution 1244, the mission provide support for holding the Serbian October 25 parliamentary elections in Kosovo-Metohija as well, sources have confirmed to Tanjug.
In a letter to McGurk, Petkovic noted that, under an OSCE decision of July 1, 1999, the mission's responsibilities also included organising and overseeing elections.
He added that, in electoral processes in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2020, the OSCE Mission had played a key role by ensuring safe and transparent collection of ballots and safety of voters, electoral materials and participants in the electoral process, as well as transparency of the process.
In doing so, the OSCE helped Serbian citizens to exercise their legally guaranteed right to vote in their places of residence in Kosovo-Metohija, Petkovic noted in the letter.
