Serbian, Czech health ministers sign MoU

PRAGUE - On the first day of an official visit to Czechia, Serbian caretaker Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar met with his Czech counterpart Adam Vojtech in Prague on Monday.

The parties signed a MoU between their ministries and agreed the move was an excellent first step towards advancement and development of cooperation between the two countries in the health care sector.

Loncar and Vojtech agreed there was major untapped potential for cooperation in many areas of the sector and expressed readiness to fully contribute to establishing closer ties between the two health care systems.

"The health care sector of the Czech Republic has been seeing excellent results in recent years, especially in the field of transplants and all types of cardiology, which is where I see great opportunities for advancement of cooperation. With Minister Vojtech, we have just agreed for their experts to come to our country, as well as for our young doctors and nurses to go to Czechia for additional education. I believe that years of very intensive and successful cooperation between the two health care systems are ahead of us," Loncar noted.

He added that the meeting had been an opportunity to thank Czechia for direct investment and assistance provided to the Serbian health care system since 2012.

Vojtech noted that Czechia and Serbia were connected by great friendship and long-standing close ties and that there was an opportunity to affirm that relationship in the health care sector as well.

"The swiftness and the level of investments achieved by Serbia in the past several years is astonishing, especially when it comes to investment in infrastructure and modern medical equipment. I believe that, in the coming years, through close cooperation and staff exchanges, use of third-party experiences and even more intensive contacts, we will affirm the friendly relations between Czechia and Serbia," Vojtech said, adding that digitalisation of the Serbian health care system was an excellent example of a reform currently being carried out in the Czech health care system.
