BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic received a farewell visit from Cypriot Ambassador to Belgrade Dimitrios Theophylactou on Tuesday.
Congratulating the ambassador on a very successful tenure in Serbia, Brnabic noted that bilateral ties with Cyprus were based on firm friendship, mutual trust and a historically reaffirmed closeness and solidarity between the two peoples, the government press office said in a statement.
Brnabic especially thanked the ambassador for the principled position of respect of Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for Cyprus's principled stance in a recent vote on launching the procedure of the so-called "Kosovo's" admission to Council of Europe (CoE) membership at an April 24 extraordinary meeting of the CoE Committee of Ministers.
The parties agreed that advancement of bilateral cooperation in the economy, science, education, scientific research, the IT sector and other fields needed to be continued.
Theophylactou thanked Brnabic for the cooperation to date, noting that, in the coming period, bilateral relations would continue to develop based on a firm, decades-long friendship and trust, the statement added.
