Serbia's caretaker gov't adopts conclusion on SAF participation in peacekeeping operations

BELGRADE - Serbia's caretaker government passed on Friday a Conclusion adopting an Annual Plan for implementation of the participation of the Serbian Armed Forces (SAF) and other defence forces in multinational operations in 2026, which will apply until a new annual plan is adopted.

"Serbia is among the countries actively participating in the establishment and preservation of peace and stability worldwide, thereby making a significant contribution to building equal partnerships with the member states of the United Nations and the European Union," a government statement said.

Participation in building and maintaining peace in the region and worldwide is one of the three missions of the SAF and is based on established security and defence needs and interests, in keeping with the National Security Strategy, the Defence Strategy and the Strategic Overview of the Defence of the Republic of Serbia, it said.

"At the same time, participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations fulfils the international obligations undertaken through the conclusion of international legal instruments. This sends a signal of the political maturity and stability of the country and its institutions," also said.
