BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic met with members of the German Bundestag's Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid on Wednesday to discuss bilateral relations, reform processes in Serbia and the situation in Kosovo-Metohija.
Brnabic said Serbia attached special significance to advancing its bilateral ties with Germany as its leading economic partner, and thanked the country for supporting a dual education system in Serbia, the government press service said in a statement.
When it comes to human rights, the Serbian government insists, in a principled manner, on dialogue and a broad, inclusive process of reviewing all relevant social issues, formulating policies and preparing legislative acts, Brnabic said.
She added that the establishment of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue was the legal and institutional foundation for establishing social dialogue as a new mechanism for reviewing all significant issues and finding joint solutions.
Brnabic also pointed out that the fundamental human rights of Serbs were being denied and jeopardised in the territory of Serbia's southern province, at the heart of Europe.
She reiterated that Belgrade continued to be ready to resume dialogue on normalisation of relations with Pristina, and noted the necessity of implementing the Brussels Agreement.
Brnabic appealed to the Bundestag committee to assume an active role in solving the issue of human rights violations in Kosovo-Metohija and condemn the violations of the human and minority rights of Serbs and other non-Albanian communities.
The committee's head Renata Alt said Germany was watching developments in Kosovo-Metohija closely and condemned all forms of violence, and added that it would continue to support dialogue, the statement also said.
