Vucic: I hope EU, US will reason with Kurti

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday the situation in Kosovo-Metohija was "terribly difficult" but that Belgrade was trying to maintain peace almost at all costs and that he hoped the EU and the US would have sufficient strength to reason with Pristina's PM Albin Kurti.

"This is a terribly difficult situation for us, we are trying to preserve peace almost at all costs, but we are dealing with people who want that there be no peace at all costs. In any case, what remains for us to do is to fight and rely on common sense, and I hope the EU and the US will have sufficient strength to reason with those who are acting irrationally, nothing more than that," Vucic said at a press conference with Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar.

"If that is not the case, what can you do? ...We will be protecting our people and our country. That is what people must understand," Vucic added.
