BELGRADE - People's Movement of Serbia President Miroslav Aleksic, who is also one of the leaders of the opposition Serbia Against Violence coalition, said on Thursday all opposition parties would win sufficient votes in the December 17 parliamentary elections to be able to form a caretaker government.
Commenting on local elections in Belgrade, Aleksic said his coalition would garner the largest number of votes and that "cooperation of all opposition factors" would not be necessary as he believed "a narrower coalition" would be able to secure a majority, the People's Movement of Serbia said in a statement.
Speaking to Insajder TV, Aleksic said the ruling party would ensure a better position for itself through manipulations but that Serbia Against Violence would thwart attempts of abuse.
He said the coalition would have 25,000 controllers at polling stations across Serbia and do everything to safeguard the will of the citizens "in critical spots."
Elections should be a celebration of democracy, rather than "full of blackmailing, threats and vote buying," Aleksic noted.
