BELGRADE - Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) leader Ivica Dacic said on Sunday evening he was not satisfied with his party's electoral results and that he was ready to step down as SPS president if it needed a new leader.
"I took over the party when it had five per cent (of votes), we have had varying results in the past 17 years since I have been president of the party. As far as we are concerned, this result is unsatisfactory and I will speak with the SPS about what is best for the party. I think a new SPS leader must be found," Dacic said.
Congratulating the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) on a comprehensive electoral win, Dacic said the Socialists were ready to remain a coalition partner of the SNS if the Progressives decided in favour of that.
