Brnabic: Protesters wanted to alter citizens' electoral will through violence

BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said on Sunday evening an attempt by supporters of the opposition Serbia Against Violence coalition to enter the Belgrade City Hall by force indicated their intent to alter the citizens' electoral will through violence.

"This is an attempt of a Maidan, this is a lack of concern for all other citizens of the Republic of Serbia and Belgrade. This is hatred, this is violence, and this is what we have been warning of," Brnabic told Pink TV.

She said the opposition coalition was not concerned with campaigning or elections but aimed to destabilise Serbia through violence.

"We knew this was being prepared. As these are difficult times, we were getting additional information, which I have spoken about," Brnabic explained, noting that police had exercised restraint in dealing with the protesters.
