BACKI BREG - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday he did not keep up to date with statements by politicians but was only interested in a soonest possible conclusion of the electoral process.
Speaking to reporters at Backi Breg near Sombor, northern Serbia, Vucic said politicians in Serbia became modern quickly but that that lasted for three, four or six months.
"The Serbia Against Violence coalition is modern now, before it was (Mladjan) Dinkic and before him, it was someone else," Vucic said.
He said Belgrade was developing and that there were plans for many national projects, including a metro and rail lines.
"Belgrade is making very quick progress. I had a ride at the Belgrade Waterfront last night - it looks beautiful, all hotels are full, there are many tourists and even more will come. Whatever any politician might say to distract the people - that is their job," Vucic said.
Commenting on a campaign by pro-opposition media outlets owned by Dragan Solak, Vucic said no one was buying into "that kind of lies" any more.
"They (the opposition) hate people with a different opinion. They were beating the police and pounding on the (Belgrade City Hall) building for three hours and then said it was done by infiltrators. But then they realised it was Aleksic and Zelenovic," Vucic said.
