Borrell: Visa liberalisation brings significant benefits

BRUSSELS - EU foreign policy and security chief Josep Borell says visa liberalisation for the so-called Kosovo is a historic EU decision bringing significant benefits to both the so-called Kosovo and the EU.

"A historic decision by the EU enters into force. Kosovo’s citizens can as of today travel to the EU visa-free. This brings significant benefits to both Kosovo & the EU. The entire Western Balkans are now connected to the Schengen area through visa liberalisation," Borrell wrote in a post on the social media network X on Monday, January 1.

A procedure is also underway in Brussels to grant visa liberalisation to holders of passports issued by the Coordination Directorate of the Serbian Interior Ministry.
