BELGRADE - Serbian PM Milos Vucevic met with Cypriot Ambassador to Belgrade Andreas Fotiou on Monday, thanking him for Cyprus's decision not to vote for a Srebrenica resolution in spite of major pressure.

Vucevic also thanked the ambassador for Cyprus's consistent respect of the integrity and sovereignty of Serbia as well as for its principled position on the so-called Kosovo's request to launch the procedure of attaining Council of Europe membership, the Serbian government said in a statement.

Vucevic said bilateral relations, based on traditional friendship and close ties between the two countries, would be advanced further through mutual efforts.

He noted that there was an interest to advance and boost economic ties, given the two countries' economic potentials.

Fotiou said he believed the relations between the two countries, connected by firm friendship and historically confirmed close ties, would be advanced further, and highlighted the significance of economic cooperation, investments and tourism.
