BELGRADE - The number of foreigners who immigrated to Serbia in 2023 is about 9.5 times higher relative to 2012, shows the first-ever immigration research by Serbia's statistical office RZS.
At last week's presentation of the research, RZS Acting Director Branko Josipovic said the immigration data was the first step towards giving decision-makers and all relevant institutions an awareness of how immigration was affecting the country.
"The research has been created in line with European and international standards, which simplifies data comparisons. The plan is to conduct a more detailed research into who is moving to Serbia, as well as to establish a research into emigration to complete the picture of migration flows," Josipovic said.
