BELGRADE - Israeli football coach Barak Bakhar will take over at Red Star Belgrade in the summer to lead the Serbian club in the UEFA Champions League next season, Tanjug learns.
With his current club, Maccabi Haifa, Bakhar defeated Red Star in the Champions League play-offs in August.
Red Star have made no comment on Bakhar's appointment as current head coach Milos Milojevic is still under contract and the club is focused on winning another "double" - the Serbian Superliga and the cup title.
Israeli media are reporting that Red Star have reached a deal with Bakhar and that a club delegation comprised of Marko Petrovic, Marko Marin and Mitar Mrkela has travelled to Haifa for talks with the coach.
Reports by local media included photos of the Red Star officials visiting Israel.
Bakhar, 43, was named Maccabi Haifa head coach in 2020 and is under contract with the club until June 30, 2024.
He has won a total of ten trophies with three clubs in Israel.
