BELGRADE - A total 294 km of motorways have been built in Serbia since 2014, Serbian Deputy PM and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic said Wednesday.

Responding to reporters' questions, she said 12.5 km - the Ub-Lajkovac section - had been constructed in 2014, followed by 43 km in 2015, 83 km in 2016 and 53 km in 2017.

In 2018, 103 km of motorways were built in Serbia, she added.

"When we add to this the Belgrade bypass, there will be more (kilometres of motorways) than there have ever been. We should not be against motorways or reconstructions of regional, trunk or local roads. Big or small, every road matters," she said.

All roads that connect with larger routes are important for the citizens, she noted.
