BELGRADE - Under an agreement signed in the Serbian government building on Tuesday, Serbia will receive a 50 mln euro EBRD loan for urgent reconstruction of its railway infrastructure.
The deal was signed by Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic, EBRD regional director for the Western Balkans Matteo Colangeli and Serbian Railway Infrastructure Acting Director Jelena Tanaskovic.
Vesic said the 50 mln euros would go to rehabilitation of 200 km of railways in Serbia.
"This agreement alone will double the number of kilometers of railways to be rehabilitated (in a one-year period)," Vesic said.
He added that Serbia had almost 3,400 km of railways and that many sections needed reconstruction.
