BELGRADE - Air Serbia carried 219,216 passengers in January 2023, which is a 136 pct increase y-o-y and a 20.4 pct increase relative to January 2020, the Serbian national airline said on Friday.

In a statement, the airline said the figures were its best January result since the start of its operations under the name of Air Serbia as well as a seventh consecutive record month for the company.

"Recently we posted the operating results of our company for 2022, which showed significant growth. The beginning of the new calendar year brought new records. During January 2023, we carried 126,513 passengers more than in the same month of 2022 and operated 2,756 flights, which is a 68 pct increase compared to January 2022. This is the seventh month in a row in which we have been breaking our records. We have reasons to believe that this trend will continue,” says Air Serbia General Manager Commercial and Strategy Bosko Rupic.

"In January 2023, when it comes to Western Europe, the most popular destinations in the Air Serbia network were Zurich, Paris, Amsterdam, Vienna, London, and Berlin. In the region, the top destinations were Podgorica and Tivat, and there was also major interest in Istanbul, as well as in the long-haul flights to New York and Tianjin," Air Serbia also said.
