BELGRADE - EXPO 2027 Director Dusan Borovcanin said on Friday 94 countries had confirmed they would attend the specialised EXPO 2027 in Belgrade and that the signing of agreements between Serbia and participant countries was formally due to begin in July, after a June 17 meeting of the General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions.
Speaking to Tanjug, Borovcanin said the initial plan had been for the number of confirmed EXPO 2027 participants to reach one hundred this year but that, at the current pace, it was likely to be exceeded.
He said the first invitations had been sent last December.
"I think that, for now, the response from countries is excellent and that it gives us the right to be confident to believe we will first exceed the number of 100 countries this year and then, ultimately, 120 countries," he said.
EXPO 2027, to take place from May 15 to August 15, 2027, is expected to attract more than four million visitors.
