BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut said in the parliament on Thursday his government's economic measures were producing results and that inflation was at its lowest since April 2021 after amounting to 2.9 pct in September 2025.
Macut noted that a government regulation limiting sales margins were already producing results, one month after being introduced.
"We can say that prices of products and services were down by 1.6 pct in September and that they are lower relative to August," Macut said.
He noted that inflation had been at 4.7 pct in August and was lower by around 2 pct thanks to the measures.
Macut also said external trade was seeing an "excellent trend", totalling 49.2 bln euros between January and August, which he noted was an 8.3 pct increase y-o-y.
"The export-to-import ratio is at 79.1 pct, which is a very good figure, indicating that a steady growth of the ratio is being maintained, as well as that the competitiveness of the national economy has been increased, and that the export capabilities of our economy are being maintained," Macut said.
He said GDP growth had reached 2.1 pct in Q2 2025.
"That is not the desired level and we plan to end this year with a projected 2.75 pct, which is much better than the European average. Of course, we are not pleased with that because we are far below the planned GDP growth rate of more than 4 pct but, in the circumstances we are in, that is very good," Macut said.
He said the national GDP demonstrated the Serbian economy had survived a period of lower growth rates and that it was quite stable, with sustainable growth.
