STARA PAZOVA - German biometric documents company Muehlbauer opened a new plant in Stara Pazova near Belgrade on Friday at a ceremony also attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
At the plant, Vucic tried the company's leading-edge technology for making passports and other personal documents.
He said the plant was one of the best in the world and that, thanks to devices known as "Muehlbauer kiosks", the most modern passports would likely become available in two years' time.
"In the shortest possible time, you finish everything on your own, you do not have to ask anybody anything," he said during a tour of the factory with company executives and German Ambassador to Belgrade Anke Konrad.
"We must prepare for that process and do all that is required," he said, adding that the devices would use artificial intelligence to make all types of personal documents.
The plant, an investment worth more than 20 mln euros, is the second Muehlbauer factory in Serbia and will have a workforce of over 150.
