BELGRADE - The CEO of Serbia's Russian majority-owned oil firm NIS, Kirill Tyurdenev, has told the company's employees he had received from the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) a licence approving the start of talks between shareholders and other interested parties about a change of ownership of NIS and that, based on the talks, a request for a new operating licence was due to be submitted to the OFAC in the coming days, Tanjug learns.
The company is under US sanctions.
The operating licence would enable NIS to continue to operate normally during the negotiations about a permanent and sustainable solution.
Tyurdenev confirmed he had received the licence for the talks on November 14 and that February 13 was the deadline to complete them.
