BELGRADE - The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (PKS) hosted an end-of-year business conference of Serbian and Chinese businesspeople on Friday.
PKS President Marko Cadez noted that the goal of the conference was to make plans for next year and exchange business ideas.
The reception was also attended by Serbian Minister of Internal and External Trade Jagoda Lazarevic, Chinese Ambassador to Belgrade Li Ming and representatives of more than 30 Serbian and around 25 Chinese companies.
"The first plan for next year is that we meet at least once in six months and have this kind of exchanges," Cadez said.
He added that Serbian companies would be participating in at least four Chinese fairs next year and that, since Serbia and China had a FTA, at least ten Serbian business delegations would be travelling to China.
Lazarevic noted that she was very happy with this year's substantial achievements in Serbia-China economic cooperation and that good results were expected from next year, too.
"In a few days' time, we will be entering the third year since the entry into force of our FTA. For our part, we on the Serbian side must work much more, and my message to Serbian companies is to work more on boosting Serbian exports to China. We want to get a larger portion of the enormous Chinese market," she said.
Li said hosting the reception was a positive move and noted that 2025 was a year of great achievements in the cooperation between the two countries.
"This is a very good finish to 2025. After the FTA entered into force, I think the volume of bilateral trade has risen exponentially in the past year or a year and a half and, together, we have built and completed a railway line from Belgrade to Subotica, and everyone is looking forward to the final point in Budapest. I am certain that will help regional connectivity," he said.
According to figures released by the PKS, the volume of bilateral trade between Serbia and China in the first nine months of this year totalled 6.65 bln dollars.
Serbian exports to China stood at 1.55 bln dollars, while imports from China totalled 5.10 bln dollars.
