DUBAI - Serbian First Deputy PM and Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said on Tuesday in Dubai, where he is attending the World Governments Summit, that Botswana had confirmed in principle its participation in the specialised EXPO 2027 Belgrade, and added that the goal was to increase the number of participant countries to at least 140.
"I have set for myself the goal of getting 15 more countries to Belgrade after this summit. It may be a bit ambitious but, believe it or not, the number of countries that have confirmed their participation in EXPO 2027 in Belgrade is currently at 133," Mali told Tanjug.
He said a specialised EXPO held in Astana in 2017 had been the most successful one until now with 115 participants, and noted that Serbia had already significantly surpassed that number.
"We will not stop. We said, let's go for at least 140. If Botswana has accepted in principle, 14 more countries remain as my homework, and I will speak with their representatives and try to find a way of getting them to come to Belgrade," Mali said.
