Serbian, Uzbek chambers of commerce to establish joint business council

TASHKENT - Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (PKS) Vice President Igor Popovic and Deputy President of the Uzbek Chamber of Commerce Suhrob Abdurahmonov signed on Thursday in Tashkent an agreement on forming a joint business council of the two chambers of commerce.

The agreement establishes an institutional framework for systematic and long-term cooperation between the business communities of Serbia and Uzbekistan, the PKS said in a statement.

It was signed as part of a two-day visit to Uzbekistan by a Serbian state and business delegation headed by Deputy PM and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarovic.

The establishment of the business council represents a major step towards advancement of bilateral economic relations, enabling continued dialogue among businesspeople, greater involvement of the business community in creating joint initiatives, as well as stronger support for Serbian companies in the central Asian market becoming more international, the PKS also said.

On the Serbian side, the council will be co-chaired by Luss Textile owner and director Sava Mitrovic.
