WASHINGTON - Serbian First Deputy PM and Finance Minister Sinisa Mali announced on Friday US Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy Sarah Rogers would visit Belgrade in May to sign a contract on her country's participation in EXPO 2027, and noted that this would turn a new page in Serbia-US cooperation and represent an opportunity Serbia did not want to miss.
Asked by reporters if he expected the Belgrade EXPO to raise the level of Serbia-US cooperation and how he saw announcements by US companies that they would unveil innovations at the event, Mali said the US IT firm Cisco was one of the top sponsors of EXPO 2027 and that an agreement had been signed with the California-based company Archer on demonstration flights of flying taxis at the event.
Commenting on Thursday's promotion of EXPO 2027 at the Serbian embassy in Washington, Mali said the goal had been to present the event to attendees of the IMF/World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington.
"The invitation I extended was aimed at getting as many companies as possible to come to present themselves. Now that we have 137 countries that have confirmed their participation in the EXPO, and there will be even more than that, it is an opportunity. It is a unique opportunity for all companies in the world, not only American ones, to showcase technologies and their products and to demonstrate all they have done in one place, in front of so many countries," Mali said.
