BELGRADE - Serbia's EXPO 2027 Commissioner Jagoda Lazarevic, who is also minister of internal and external trade, EXPO 2027 Director Danilo Jerinic and US Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Sarah B Rogers signed on Monday in Belgrade a contract on US participation in the specialised expo.

The contract, inked at the EXPO Playground, will enable the implementation of further operational steps towards the US's involvement as an official participant.

"The US will have a large pavilion in a wonderful location, and I believe that, at least judging by the past international expos, it will make a major contribution to what we here in Serbia consider to be our great development opportunity, a development opportunity for Belgrade, for Serbia, as well as for the entire region," the minister said.

She noted that bilateral economic and political relations with the US were developing intensively.

"I am pleased to say that our level of bilateral trade in goods and, especially, services is rising year by year, and that the US is by far our leading partner in the services trade and our key export market. At the same time, a significant inflow of American investments by US-based companies is making a major contribution to further strengthening of our export potential, as well as to creating an even larger, stronger industrial base," Lazarevic said.

She also noted that major US companies were involved in capital infrastructure projects in Serbia.

EXPO 2027 Belgrade will be held from May 15 through August 15 2027 under the theme of Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All.
