BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday EXPO 2027 was an incredible, historic project and noted that, every day, there were more than 3,500 workers at the EXPO construction site in Belgrade's suburban municipality of Surcin.
During a tour of the site, Vucic said all buildings would be completed in July and equipped by September, when the first delegations are due to arrive to build their pavilions.
He added that all buildings would be turned over before a December 1 deadline.
Vucic noted that the majority of the workers building the complex were foreigners, due to a lack of Serbian workers.
"Today, there are some 4,800 workers and around 540 various pieces of machinery and equipment at the construction site," he said.
EXPO 2027 Belgrade will be held from May 15 through August 15 2027 under the theme of Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All.
