ATHENS - Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic said on Thursday the basic provisions of a contract to build a gas-fired power plant near Nis had been agreed with Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR.
"With the Azerbaijani company SOCAR, we have agreed the basic provisions of a future contract, and I expect that we will continue to work on building a joint gas-fired power plant near Nis," Djedovic Handanovic, who is in Athens for an energy transition summit, told Tanjug in a statement.
The governments of Serbia and Azerbaijan signed in February an agreement to build the plant.
At the time, a gas-fired power plant with 500 MW of electric power capacity and some 150 MW of heat capacity was being considered.
