BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic on Friday chaired a session of a council tasked with coordinating activities and measures for promoting GDP growth.
The council said construction, industry and business were key sectors for economic growth.
Brnabic said Serbia's GDP growth rate should reach 2.5 pct in 2023 and that the construction sector and quicker issuance of location and construction permits were crucial for achieving that objective, the Serbian government said in a statement.
She said economic stability and continued GDP growth had a direct impact on real wage and pension increases in Serbia.
The session also addressed a set of economic measures aimed at improving the living standards of Serbian citizens.
"The wage and pension increases have been made possible by the stable economic policy Serbia has maintained for years now, so GDP growth is key for continued growth of the economic power of Serbian citizens," the statement notes.
Brnabic said public investments in schools, hospitals, scientific infrastructure and other facilities of public significance were important for economic growth as well as for citizens.
She reiterated that all projects were important for generating higher GDP growth and that all ministries, local self-government authorities and public enterprises must accelerate activities to meet deadlines.
Brnabic highlighted the tourism sector, which she said was still untapped, and announced that ties would be established with travel operators in countries where people were interested in visiting Serbia, the statement said.
