NIS - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday Austrian lifting solutions provider Palfinger would bring leading-edge technology and equipment to Nis and that talks were already underway about the company setting up an R&D centre in the city.
"That is dramatically important to us because it will hire many young people from the Nis university and that is a great success," Vucic said at a ceremony that marked the start of works to build a Palfinger plant in Nis.
He said he was confident other investors would come to the city in the future.
"Net wages at the factory will be significantly higher than average but, more importantly, Palfinger guarantees security. They are serious people who come to stay for the long-term. They will bring leading-edge technology and equipment and 375 employees will be working here," Vucic said.
He said Palfinger mostly manufactured truck-mounted cranes and crane knuckle joints and that most of its output went to the US market.
"The US has emerged from the present global conflict as someone who is the strongest and the most powerful as entire Europe and China have problems, but they (Palfinger) market a great deal of their products in America. All that will be manufactured here will go to exports, mostly to Germany, France, Austria and Slovenia," he said.
Vucic said the factory, due to be completed by June, would be an additional boost to the Nis economy as well as to the Serbian state budget.
