BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic announced on Thursday a Serbia-Hungary oil pipeline would be finished by 2028.
"We have begun constructing a Serbia-Hungary oil pipeline, which is in the phase of preparation of technical documentation, and Transnafta will be the investor. The plan is to finish the construction of the oil pipeline by 2028, which will enable the transport of around 4 mln t of oil," Djedovic Handanovic said at the Southeast Europe Gas Forum, hosted by the Energija Balkana internet portal under the patronage of the Ministry of Mining and Energy.
Work on the pipeline will proceed simultaneously with expansion of oil storage capacities, which is a precondition for boosting our compulsory oil stocks in line with EU regulations, she said.
She said the oil pipeline to Hungary was important for diversifying oil supplies.
Djedovic Handanovic said Serbia also planned to build gas pipelines with North Macedonia and Romania by 2028.
