BELGRADE - The Serbian government adopted on Thursday a regulation on subsidies for purchases of new electrically-powered vehicles.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection has set aside 170 mln dinars for this purpose.
Natural and legal persons and entrepreneurs are eligible for the subsidies.
"As one of the government measures aimed at improving the quality of air and the environment, the ministry I am in charge of has secured funds to support purchases of electric vehicles," Minister of Environmental Protection Irena Vujovic said, adding that the subsidies would be available until the allocated funds lasted or until October 31 at the latest.
"If interest shown by citizens and businesses significantly surpasses the funds set aside, we will try to secure additional funds for purchases of new electric vehicles," she added.
Depending on the vehicle type, the subsidies - to be disbursed in dinars - range from 250 euros to 5,000 euros.
