ROME - Serbian FM Marko Djuric said on Wednesday in Rome Serbia would remain a pillar of peace and stability in the region but that, on the other hand, support from the international community was needed at the highest level when it comes to normalisation of Belgrade-Pristina relations and implementation of agreements reached in the Brussels dialogue.
Addressing members of the Italian academic community, diplomats, students and political figures at a panel hosted by the Italian Institute for International Affairs, Djuric highlighted the fundamental domestic and foreign policy objectives of the new Serbian government.
He said further strengthening of the national economy was high on the agenda and that construction of new motorways, railways, infrastructure, investments in the IT sector and digitalisation were the most important directions of Serbia's further economic progress, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.
Speaking about foreign policy objectives, Djuric said Serbia would by 2027 be ready to become a full EU member state, and thanked Italy for supporting Serbia's EU path.
Djuric was on a two-day official visit to Italy, during which he spoke with several Italian officials, including FM Antonio Tajani.
