Brnabic: Lajcak visit an additional form of pressure

BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said on Monday diplomatic activities aimed at resolving the Kosovo-Metohija issue had been stepped up but that the same was the case with pressure, and noted that EU special envoy Miroslav Lajcak's visit to Belgrade this evening was an additional form of pressure.

In a statement to the RTS, Brnabic said this was not unusual considering the global situation and a war in the east of Europe that indirectly involved the entire continent, as well as the great tensions between the US and China.

"New conflicts on European soil suit no one, and they want to defuse all possible flashpoints as well as to eliminate examples of potential precedents, Kosovo-Metohija being one of them because it has been taken away contrarily to international law," Brnabic said.

FR Yugoslavia was bombed without UN consent and then a part of our territory was taken away from us - at least by countries that recognise the independence of the so-called Kosovo, Brnabic said.

"The countries that recognise the independence of the so-called Kosovo want there to be no precedent, so there are several factors behind the Western desire to get this issue off the agenda," Brnabic said.
