Vucic invites Meloni to visit Serbia

TIRANA - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Italian PM Giorgia Meloni on the margins of an EU-Western Balkans summit in Tirana on Tuesday, inviting her to visit Serbia.

"I congratulated Meloni on the electoral win and on assuming the responsible post, and I took the opportunity to invite her to visit Serbia," Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account.

He said the holding of a fourth joint session of the Serbian and Italian governments would represent an excellent continuity of close cooperation between the two countries and an additional impetus to advancement of overall ties.

Vucic noted that Serbia appreciated the partnership with Italy and its strong support for Serbia's EU path and Western Balkan states.

"We agreed that integration of the region is of great significance for maintaining peace, as well as for economic progress in this part of Europe," Vucic said.
