Prosecutor's office orders investigation into attack on students who want to study

BELGRADE - The Third Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade said on Thursday its prosecutor had ordered a police investigation into a physical attack on students who want to study, which took place in New Belgrade on Wednesday evening.

The prosecutor ordered the police to take statements from people involved in the incident and obtain the resulting medical documentation and video footage to establish whether the actions of anyone involved contained elements of the criminal offence of violent conduct from Article 344 of the Criminal Code.

After identifying the perpetrator of the attack, who is being prosecuted ex officio, the police are to notify the public prosecutor, who will then take further action in his competence.

Two students who want to study, Milos Pavlovic and Vladimir Balac, were physically attacked by a group of people in New Belgrade's Student City university campus on Wednesday evening and had to seek medical attention at the Emergency Medical Centre due to sustained injuries.
