CAIRO - Serbian PM Djuro Macut met with Egyptian PM Mostafa Madbouly in Cairo on Tuesday to discuss a continuation of the affirmation of the Non-Aligned Movement policy, strengthening of economic cooperation in numerous areas, as well as the current complex global political and security situation.
Macut said he was pleased to be visiting Egypt on his first official trip abroad as PM of Serbia, and thanked Madbouly for a cordial welcome that he noted reflected the friendship between the two nations, the Serbian government said in a statement.
"The time has come to reaffirm the policy symbolised by the Non-Aligned Movement, and Egypt will always have a sincere ally, friend and partner in Serbia," Macut said.
In the present complex global political and security conditions and when there is a danger of relations among big powers escalating, it is important that states like Serbia and Egypt, which are pursuing policies that are exclusively in the interest of their citizens, get closer together and help each other more, he said.
Macut said Belgrade highly appreciated Egypt's support when it comes to Kosovo-Metohija and the safeguarding of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and the cultural and religious heritage of Serbia and the Serbs.
The two PMs also discussed continued strengthening of economic cooperation in the construction, agriculture, tourism and other sectors.
