BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received Xin Changxing, secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, in Belgrade on Wednesday.

Expressing gratitude for the continued and fruitful cooperation, Vucic noted the significance of strengthening the ties between Serbia and Jiangsu, one of China's most powerful and most dynamic provinces.

In an Instagram post, Vucic wrote the meeting had been cordial and constructive.

"In light of the increasingly complex and increasingly unpredictable global economic situation, forging ties across all fields is becoming strategically important for sustainable development, stability and competitiveness. Jiangsu, as a leading economic hub, is investing major resources in innovation and technology, which gives us an opportunity to expand cooperation in areas such as industry, energy, agriculture, science and education through concrete projects," Vucic noted.

He said Jiangsu-based companies that were already operating in Novi Sad, Nis and Ruma brought not only investments but leading-edge technologies as well, enabling Serbia to break into new markets.

"I noted that China is now our second-largest trading partner, whereby we confirm that Serbia is a dependable and competitive partner in the Chinese market. In a time of intense global economic challenges, stable and diversified cooperation with China provides us with security and enables us to overcome current difficulties," Vucic said.

He added that Serbia was open to new investments and cooperation in various sectors.

"With (Chinese) President Xi Jinping, I have an exceptional relationship full of trust and respect, which makes it possible for us to build bridges between our peoples and economies. Together, we are striving for a future in which cooperation and solidarity will be the foundations of stability and development," Vucic added.

Serbia always acknowledges its sincere friends and partners and will not forget them, because, in complex times, we find strength in connecting, in understanding and in joint work on pursuing shared objectives, he noted.
