DOHA - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Monday wrapped up his first working visit to Qatar, during which he had a bilateral meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
It was their first meeting to date and addressed bilateral cooperation, the economy, food supplies, energy and investments.
Air Serbia was a special topic of discussions as Vucic asked the emir to consider Qatar Airways becoming the company's strategic partner.
"Air Serbia belongs to Serbia, it is a profitable company now, and we are also looking to the future. The present situation is good, but whether it will always be so does not only depend on us, but also on market circumstances, and we see that major international companies are on a drastic decline," Vucic said.
He said the meeting with the sheikh was extremely significant and that Qatar was interested in cooperation in many fields.
"We discussed his upcoming visit to Serbia, as well as other important matters," Vucic said, expressing the hope the emir would visit Serbia this year.
Vucic also had a series of important meetings with representatives of many countries, including the presidents of the Maldives, Bangladesh, Palestine, Slovenia and Poland.
Vucic also attended the 5th UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries, hosted by the emir of Qatar.
