Brnabic: Serbia, Israel to continue to strengthen friendship, cooperation

JERUSALEM - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said on Tuesday she hoped Israel and Serbia would continue to strengthen their friendship and cooperation in all fields - the economy, culture, sport and science.

Speaking to reporters in Jerusalem after a meeting with Knesset Speaker Amir Ohan, Brnabic said Serbs and Jews had always stood together.

"Our friendship and political relations, as you have said, go way back. The Serbian and the Jewish people have always stood together and suffered enormously, especially during WWII, and we need to make sure that the world never forgets it," Brnabic said, noting that there should be no historical revisionism and that the Holocaust should be remembered.

She said political and economic relations between Serbia and Israel had continued to strengthen in the past few years.

Brnabic also extended condolences to Israel over the killing of five Israeli soldiers in a bomb blast in the north of Gaza.
