MADRID - Serbian FM Marko Djuric began a one-day visit to Spain on Thursday with a visit to the Elcano Royal Institute in Madrid.
Djuric signed the book of distinguished visitors, noting that it was an honour and a privilege to visit the renowned think-tank engaging in research and analyses of international relations.
He noted the institute had an important role in understanding global challenges and shaping constructive approaches to contemporary international relations.
With the institute's Director Charles Powell and his aides, Djuric discussed current geopolitical problems and the positions of Serbia and Spain on the international scene, as well as upcoming major anniversaries in the relations between the two countries.
Djuric spoke about Serbia's foreign policy and bilateral relations with Spain.
He noted that Serbia's foreign policy priorities were clearly defined and that they complemented domestic national priorities and had to do with maintaining the country's political, social and economic stability, independence in pursuing its foreign and domestic policies and further development of the economy and preservation of the Serbian identity, culture and tradition.
Addressing the most significant regional topics, Djuric highlighted the significance of regional stability and thanked Spain for supporting Serbia regarding its top national issue and its foreign policy orientation - Kosovo-Metohija and EU integration.
Djuric also visited the Spanish Senate and met with Foreign Affairs Committee chair José Ignacio Landaluce Calleja.
