Former "KLA" member arrested at Merdare for Podujevo war crime

BELGRADE  - Serbian police arrested a man identified with the initials H H at the Merdare administrative crossing on Tuesday on suspicion of complicity in a war crime committed in Podujevo, Kosovo-Metohija, in June 1999.

Alongside several other members of the so-called "Kosovo Liberation Army," the man, aged 77, is suspected of shooting and killing a Serb civilian, the police said in a statement.

The suspect has been placed in custody for up to 48 hours, after which he will appear before the Public Prosecutor's Office for War Crimes with a criminal complaint filed against him.
