BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut met with UAE ambassador to Belgrade Ahmed Hatem Barghash AlMenhali on Monday to discuss stepping up the cooperation between the two countries and new joint projects.

Macut highlighted the good bilateral political relations, raised to the level of strategic partnership and accompanied by continued strengthening of economic cooperation, a government statement said.

That has resulted in the signing of several inter-state agreements and agreements on cooperation, as well as the launch of projects of national significance, Macut said.

The PM said the UAE was Serbia's leading export market among the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, with which Serbia has signed a comprehensive agreement on economic partnership.

He said he was confident the agreement, effective since June 1, 2025, would help advance the economic relations further.

The PM thanked the UAE for announcing its participation in the specialised EXPO 2027, for which more than 120 countries have registered to date.

Macut also thanked the ambassador for an invitation to the World Governments Summit in the UAE, scheduled for February 3-5, 2026, and noted that taking part in such events was very important for Serbia.

Macut and the ambassador also discussed possibilities for launching flights between Belgrade and Abu Dhabi, the statement said.
