US Department of Treasury issues new licence to NIS until October 8

BELGRADE - The US Department of the Treasury has issued a new special license to Serbia's Russian majority-owned oil company NIS delaying full implementation of US sanctions and enabling the firm to operate without obstructions until no later than October 8, NIS announced on Wednesday.

The licence was issued on September 30, the company said in a statement.

NIS has also amended its request to be removed from the Specially Designated Nationals list, the company said, noting that this was a lengthy and complex process.

The initial request was submitted on March 14.
